Who am I?

Liam West

I am Liam West (DevLiamW). Currently studying Computer Science with Games Development at Plymouth University, I aspire to become an adaptable and effective software and games developer. My ventures at Plymouth University have granted me access to top quality services, application and knowledge that I will talk about in my upcoming blogs. I will be keeping you up-to-date with important discussions and helpful tutorials.

The reason for these blogs being posted is to obtain a professional identity on the web. Your professional identity should have more web presence than your personal identity since it will increase credibility when Employees search your name. Personal identities can be shared on social networking sites such as Facebook. On the other-hand, LinkedIn is an incredibly powerful network for your professional identity. This website gives you the opportunity to look for possible employment, make connections, creating online CV’s and much more.

Another potential service to establish better identity would be GitHub. You can share code, support other developers and contribute to their work. If you want a larger portfolio for aesthetic design you can post on DeviantArt, and while some App Stores on mobile devices such as Apple have an initial cost for developers, App Stores are a great place to publish work.

Good web presence

  • Only the best work should be posted.
  • Branded consistently.
  • Keep personal and professional identities separate.
  • Language needs to be articulate and sophisticated.

Bad web presence

  • Outdated and old content.
  • Mixed branding.
  • Poor quality.
